Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

And to think all the problems in RFK’s marriage could have been solved by proclaiming promiscuity a gender and by sharing. Suicide is the only way out for traditionalists like Mary, who cannot adapt to modern mores, modern sexuality, and modern marriage. Sad, but all she had to do to survive was change her mind about the rightness of her husband’s gender and abandon primitive, obsolete mores.
The only shocking thing I could imagine in a Kennedy diary would be a quite night with his own wife.
This just in....Another Kennedy revealed to be a degenerate.
American royalty indeed! Old people had such funny ideas. Comments on the Pipeline through Syria:
So where are the protesters screaming "no war for oil" now? Additionally, if the Syrian conflict ties into the pipeline as the article alludes to, does this tie into the Libyian overthrow two years ago, where al-Megrahi was released by Scotland in exchange for UK energy contracts? Are the UK and Europeans playing a high-stakes game to obtain natural gas and oil from sources other than Russia, or doing this to support the international oil/gas companies? Curioser and curioser... Or that the Libyan Adventure was preceded by a comment the good Colonel made about not selling his sweet crude Europe?
I have a severe case of Middle East/Europe fatigue. The Carthage solution is looking ever more attractive.
Then there's the Cpl Hicks/Carthage combo...nuke them from orbit and then salt the earth.
Just to be sure... Re: Bundle Up: Global Warming Is Over
It's so sad. Cut down in its prime! So those cute, cuddly Polar bears are going to survive after all?
Did they ever rescue that poor sad one stuck on a breakaway ice float that was featured in that heart wrenching Save the Polar Bear TV spot? I always like to remind the Polar Bear Trapped On The Iceberg crowd that the Latin name for Polar Bear is Ursus Maritimus.
Of course then you have to explain what that means... Wait, what??? Polar bears can swim? In those frigid waters?
I've read the energy/Syria connection elsewhere. It makes as much sense as about anything else offered. Do we really need to spend blood and treasure on France's and UK's energy requirements?
I don't think so. It's their problem, let them deal with it. Could it be that the Frogs are the only ones in Europe who understand that angle of the issue? If Europe is dependent on Russia for nat gas it will cost them.
Fine, let them assemble a strike force to deal with it if they so choose. Or even better, the UK and other European states can tell their greens to shove it and develop their rich shale fields for their own damned nat gas. Idiots
The traffic story is no surprise to me.
For years, I wondered why Manhattan didn't restrict car traffic to a greater extent. The openness of the streets led to people taking 'side trips' through areas of heavy traffic, like Times Square. With all the crossing points in areas like Times, Union, Herald, and the other squares, you had massive logjams that spread out. Today, it's not as simple to drive through these areas. You're restricted in terms of which streets you can take. For example, if I come down Broadway toward Times Square, I have to make a left several blocks beforehand, go to 7th Avenue, where I can then continue down south. More difficult for me, the driver, but makes for a smoother traffic flow into the square itself, you don't have competing traffic going north and south now. It's also made Manhattan much more enjoyable. Walking through Times Square used to be a drag. Crowds jammed onto sidewalks and traffic gnarled up. Now the crowds are spread out and you can cross streets much more easily. It doesn't hurt that the tolls into the city are sky-high, now. I used to drive in fairly regularly. Now I park in Hoboken and take the PATH. Much cheaper and easier. In Donald Westlake's Dortmunder novels, the driver (or his mother, sometimes) would discuss the best route to take to wherever they were going.
The Kennedy's need to come with a warning label to women:
"Warning any affair with a Kennedy may be hazardous to your health including a high probability of death" AFL-CIO: Yup, them lefties the bosses want to hook up with are often against the jobs/work the union members do.
Doing anything like Madonna does seems to be the depths of stupidity. Coffee: Pretty much all thru the military services. Never got the taste for it, myself. Nothing works better to drive off the high tax payers like raising their taxes (and expecting them to stick around). Yup, Jews are not a protected class. Moyers' intelligence impresses me as much as Benghazi Barry's. Weather changes! Who woulda thunk it? Never happened before! Nice stories. Have you seen the link of an MSNBC anchor ripping Weiner? I had to see it to believe it. Very funny stuff. When MSNBC turns on him, can he have any future left?
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/election/weiner-heated-argument-msnbc-show-article-1.1450616 The problem with protected groups is that the some animals are more equal then others. I suspect the protected groups concept was thought up by lawyers and should be called the full employment for lawers act. But of course it is worse since it is also the less protection for groups not in favor. Whatever you call it you can also call it unconstitutional. Equal protection is the goal not special protection.
