We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
That's actually pretty amazing, given that the tidal difference down here in the Keys is a meager 3 feet. What's interesting it that they're obviously expecting it, with the self-lowering pier and walkway. Quite the sight, and thanks for making me feel MUCH better about our meager 3 feet. Climbing that walkway a few times a day would be exhausting!
We vacation in Maine - try having to wait until 3 am to heft the rowboat back up onto the dock because that was when the tide level made the activity at least somewhat reasonable. Other than that, I truly love the great fluctuations in the water level found along the Maine coast. It brings out interesting sights, including a harbor seal within sight of our porch who habitually sunned him or herself on the rocks that are exposed only at low tide. Maine is fascinating.
