Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Private

With so many miles of empty beaches, every beach in Wellfleet is as private as you want. It's easy to find a place to plant your cooler and umbrella where you cannot see another soul, swim nude if you want. Still, a private one you can stroll to is pleasant sometimes.

California's system for ocean beaches is different. All ocean-front land up to the high tide line (I think) remains property of the state and is open to all.

Of course, in the event, certain owners of ocean-front property will try to subvert public access. It helps to have "stroke" in doing so. One often sees no parking zones enforced by local ordinance.

This is mostly a SoCal problem as the Central Coast and NorCal has water too cold for swimming. Surfing and abalone diving spots do see this pressure though.

Which gets real interesting in places like Ocean Edge resort in Brewster, where the low tide flats go out a mile or more at low tide, and the shoreline is curved. Makes for some nasty disputes.
