We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"Swedes work harder than Americans?" and "Can We Ever Lighten The Crushing Weight Of Federal Regulations?" are very related.
Sweden is a nice little country with a population slightly larger than New Jersey. While they are socialist, they have a relatively small efficient socialist government.
I've worked with Swedish businessmen who come to the U.S. (particularly the northeast) and are absolutely appalled by the levels of red-tape, indifferent bureaucrats, and taxes required to get anything done here.
Lower taxes and less regulations = higher employment. Who knew?
Re: Obama Admin Concerned About Repairing Sound Barrier
The EPA has already begun discussions with environmentalist thought leader Al Gore about developing a series of Public Service Announcements to inform the public and to caution them about the damaging effects of supersonic speeds.
This will ruin Saturday night racing at the Bull Ring.
