We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
There are deep subtleties in the sexual peccadillo qualifications for public service. It's difficult to keep track of the changing rules. I think gay peccadillos are OK now, but it's difficult to be certain anymore. I think it all depends on R or D, or where you fall on the D spectrum.
Examples of this sort of hypocrisy abound. One I think that was at least as egregious was when Mark Foley was caught sending suggestive emails to underage male pages in September 2006. The Demoncrats had a field day with that!
But the SAME Demoncrats who excoriated Foley in particular and Republicans in general lavished praise on ex Massachusetts congressman Gary Studds at his funeral in October 2006. You may remember that Studds was openly gay and censured for actually having sex with an underage male page (he was re-elected six more times after he was censured).
My my... What a difference a month (was it even a month?) makes... Or is it that Studds actually did what Foley only suggested? Or is it because Studds was openly gay?
Or is it because Demoncrat hypocrisy knows no bounds?
Today's news that 4 out of 5 Americans face poverty, living on welfare or prolonged unemployment is certainly sobering, but I doubt the light bulb will go on for people that this economic destruction has occurred since the Democrats took control of Congress in 2006, and then the presidency in 2008.
