Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Bad neighborhoods, bad people


Kenyon College's young Andrew Pochter was tragically uneducated in the existence of evil and malice. I do not blame Kenyon for that. It is a wonderful school which is not overly-steeped in moonbatism.

Is this fascinating country ready for representative rule? The Egyptian army always seems to be the only half-sane part of the government.

hey buddy,

I believe Morsi's a little busy right now to allow the building of...A solid object where:

The base is a polygon (a straight-sided shape)

 The sides are triangles which meet at the top (the apex).

It is a polyhedron.

This is a square pyramid, but there are also triangular pyramids, pentagonal pyramids, and so on.

Ur thoughts?

The process of nation building let alone a western style democracy is frequently long and bloody.

Our goals should be protect/evacuate our citizens, the MNF in Suez and ensure the Suez Canal remains open.

A former student emailed me, worried about about a friend who is in Cairo. An American with limited, if any, Arabic and holed up in a hotel.

I asked her how long he had been in Egypt. "About a couple of months." Why was he there? "Just interested in the "Arab Spring."

I didn't have the heart to tell her how idiotic I thought his behavior was. Another "American Innocent". I do hope he makes it out okay. I tend to question if he has learned much.
