We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Geez. When I was in high school, the '80s, lots of kids hunted. After school, or before even. Turkey, Deer, Duck etc. The kids that hunted that had a car or truck would come to school with a rifle or shotgun sitting clearly visible in a rack. Of course they didn't bring them in; but there they were and no hysteria ensued.
Of course, it was a mostly rural community and most people had a firearm of some kind; gun safety got drilled into kids' heads by their parents from an early age.
Parents didn't worry about kids shooting themselves or each other, they worried much more about teenagers driving cars around, and rightly so. Of those in my HS cohort, while in HS or not long after, every serious injury or death involved a car accident.
