Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Muslim Psychiatrists Unveil “Beating Cure” for Women
Religion of peace my @$$... Eventually, our society will come to the realization that the whole construct of Islam is 5th Century social engineering, but by then it will be too late. Rep. Jim Jordan DESTROYS FBI Director Mueller on IRS Targeting Scandal The scary thing about this is that this is the Director of the FBI - the freakin' FBI who is in charge of counter terrorism and counter espionage in this country. He has no clue - not one. “If Palin Had Become President” We'd be in a similar situation as we have with Obama. Despite what the Palinistas say or think, Palin is Obama lite with just a modicum more experience in a remote state where the Federal government is a defacto partner in state affairs. Rubio Aide: ‘There Are American Workers Who, For Lack of a Better Term, Can’t Cut It’ I was always a little suspicious of Rubio and his intentions. I think he's a RINO and the only reason the Republican PTB are supporting him is because he's Hispanic. I have the same suspicions about Cruz, but so far, he's playing it straight - we'll see. Tom, I doubt we'd be in anywhere near the same place had anybody but Obama (of the likely available candidates in either party) had been elected. This is a qualitatively different chief executive.
I wouldn't worry about Ted Cruz going wobbly, he's a very bright guy with strong convictions. The biggest concern with him is that he may close his mind in some instances when he should be open to change, or that he antagonizes more than he persuades. Even the righteous must learn to be effective. Agree in principle. Some things would be better, some things would have been worse.
Obama was lazy and egotistical, he wasted the first two years with his preening and world wide apology trip. When the Democrats had both the House and Senate he did surprisingly little. He wasn't controlling the Congress, they were controlling him or rather the lobbyists who wrote the thousand page (+) bills were. Hillary would have, I think, moved the ball down-field much better in that same period of time. She would have worked with the Democratic leadership in Congress but provided a better check on their wild excesses. This would be because she was better experienced than Obama (who isn't?) and would have had Slick Willie whispering in her ear. The reaction will be a law requiring billings to insurance companies be no higher than prices charged to uninsured patients.
You've got to stamp out this free market stuff or it will undermine the whole plan. What to do with people who's livelihoods are destroyed.
This reminds me of William Graham Sumner's testimony to congress on the matter on August 22, 1878. You can read at this link http://historymatters.gmu.edu/d/5729/. It seems as relevant today. The Industrial revolution also put people out of work. Reminds me of Jimmy Buffet's "A Pirate Looks At Forty".
"My occupational hazard being my occupations just not around" Time to find a new occupation. Rubio Aide: ‘There Are American Workers Who, For Lack of a Better Term, Can’t Cut It’
And not all of them can get a job working for Congress. What kind of moron would tell a reporter that? Especially in relation to letting in more foreign workers. Question: What happened to Rubio to make him stupid on immigration? Or at least stupid enough to let himself be set up by the Progs? The question for Rubio in not so much "what happened" but "who has bought him".
I'm not sure mindful college for everyone is the best idea but we really do need to stop the mindless college...at least for anyone whose daddy isn't paying the full freight.
The Pigford "crime" is probably the biggest looting of the treasury by non-government officials in history. a special prosecutor, we need to claw back that money and we need prosecutions of everyone who participated.
I agree and would add the entire agriculture department, which should be dismantled as it has lost all meaning. It doles out huge subsidies to agribusinesses with millions in profits (Monsanto and individual elites including many in Congress who own farms) and supports a Food Stamp program with no boundaries (and plenty of mismanagement).
As an example, Rep. Stephen Fincher (R.-TN) apparently received $3.48 million from 1999 to 2012 for his farm through direct payments issued automatically, regardless of need. For every dollar of insurance premium, on avarge, farmers pay 38 cents, taxpayers pick up other 62 cents (Bruce Babcock, Iowa State U.), making it a social program, not an insurance program. For more specifics before you e-mail or call your representatives in Congress: http://www.ewg.org/agmag/2011/03/farm-subsidies-paid-to-the-members-of-the-112th-congress Missy Sara's would not list is irrelevant given she could not get her team into position, the Whitehouse.
If she could have and then, prevailed upon McCain to retire she would have stunk. A cute appearance does not qualify her Presidency anymore than it does the current schmuck in chief. Has anyone but me noticed that not a single 0bama scandal has been brought to closure? They are getting away with it.
Meanwhile the Republicans are finding out that the levers that control the bureaucracy no longer work. Every inquiry is met with obstruction, obfuscation, and denial. It's a defense the Repubs have been unable to overcome. I believe it's over and the bureaucracy has won. Commenters here at Maggie's rage against the dying of the light but the coming darkness looks inevitable. |
