We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Do people really rely on classmates to attend lectures and take notes for them? I can't remember ever doing that. How would someone else's notes help me? Whoever wrote that that test wasn't much of a scholar, and resents those who are.
--have to laugh, discovered the same (+/-) expression inked into a daughter's geology text, where the offending paras were trying to seem as science but were actually political sentiments denouncing mankind's role in Earth ecology.
Daughter certainly learned something in that class!
I had a college roommate who wanted to be a doctor. He studied everything known to man about getting into medical school. What he discovered was that medical schools weren't looking for the smartest or the best.
Medical schools are looking for slaves. People with immense drive but also willing to sacrifice almost anything to be a doctor. No matter what. He finally got in a med school in the islands somewhere. He's a doctor in Texas now.
