Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

QUESTION OF THE DAY
Why is it that the ports of New York and New Jersey have been so completely infiltrated by the Russian Mafia, but the port of Seattle, and perhaps even the ports of Los Angeles and San Francisco have not been? What is the relationship of their geographic location to the onslaught of Russian mafia? Is it the east coast vs. the west coast? If so what role do the Chinese play in controlling the port of Seattle, etc.? Before you begin to consider the question you might check this wiki site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wah_Mee_massacre Re: Climate Hawks
The author of that article contrasts "climate science community" with the "numerical modeling community". I found this quote in that article interesting: Since 2000, global warming has tapered off and virtually no one in the climate science community predicted that could happen. Yet lots of people outside the climate science community - especially in the numerical modeling community - predicted it just might. Because numerical models are tricky and trying to account for all of the knobs that go into feedbacks in a climate model is extra difficult. Because nature is, and always has been, a bitch. She is not linear and she is not predictable. People who know how to build numerical models know that the more variables you have, the more difficult it is to converge on a good answer. In other words, the people in the climate science community are so stupid that they don't know how many (or even that there are a lot of) variables that impinge on the weather or climate. I say stupid. That may not be fair. It could be that they are not interested accounting for all those variables. Maybe it would be too much work or maybe they would have to admit that there is no way they could account for all those variables and their predictions would necessarily be unreliable. But then that would get in the way of their trying to scare people. In this case, I believe the answer is much simpler.
Because anyone who predicted that global warming might taper off was automatically excluded from the climate science community. Anyone seeking to investigate such a possibility couldn't get grants and if they persevered couldn't get published. It should be noted they weren't published because of private and political vendettas against research that didn't support the consensus of the climate science community not because of challenges to scientific rigor. That explains why some people couldn't or didn't speak up but it doesn't explain the people who argued without knowing or caring how ignorant (willfully or otherwise) they were.

I think this is it. Still, nobody knows all the variables, and how they interact. And on the AGW side, they don't want to deal with that, so SHUT UP, they "argue". Question for all: Where's Zachriel to tell us we're all wet? I thought it was "SHUT UP" they explained. :-)

It was clear early on that the story line the mainstream media would use would be that Americans rejected the Chechen immigrants and they became isolated and were forced to seek community elsewhere.
It is somewhat concerning that the younger brother is being treated sympathetically. Recall the DC area snipers - some are now trying to spring the younger one because he was supposedly manipulated by the older one who was put to death, thankfully. UN: These questions must not be allowed, and those who raise them must be punished, for who are they to defy the EU nomenklatura!
Dolls: Barbie is a raaaaacist! Grade inflation: You know, it takes real money to pump up those grades! And the LakeW effect: Self-Esteem Uber Alles! What? AGW down with CO2 up? How can this beeeeeeeee? Media weeps: What else could they do? Lu Lingzi, other victims, and their families mean nothing to them. Boston Bombers:m Multi-Culti tells them they're as good as us, and don't need to assimilate, so... NYT is as NYT does, and does, and does, and... The Chechen brothers: I so preferred the Czechoslovakian brothers, those two wild and crazy guys... The ATLANTIC, however, goes full lefty progressive on us. The COEXIST sticker bearers don't see the conflict between the C of the Sharia crowd and the jihadists, and all the other letters. No, it's all "our" fault. |
