Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Friday, April 19. 2013Friday morning linksFor the latest updates on Boston, turn on your radio for the events of last night. It's one heck of a story this morning. Boston police have provisionally identified the two men as suspects in a string of violent incidents outside of Boston as Mike Mulugeta and Sunil Tripathi, both here on student visas. I, too, believe wealth should be distributed more fairly. No entertainer (musician, athlete, actor, producer, director, etc.) should be allowed more than a living, minimum wage. Anything over that should be confiscated and given to poorer entertainers.
Politicians too. The pay for all elected U.S. political offices, from the town council in Roadkill, NV to the POTUS should be averaged, and everyone paid the same.

"Boston police have provisionally identified the two men as suspects in a string of violent incidents outside of Boston as Mike Mulugeta and Sunil Tripathi..."
Well, I'm sure CNN is happy for the company in the "Unsubstantiated Rumors" department, after their debacle last Wednesday. They're two brothers from Chechnya, Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev. Tamerlan was killed in the shootout and Dzhokar is on the run. None of the MSM outlets have released the name of the killed brother yet but the Shadow knows. I think you owe poor Mike and Sunil an apology! Or somebody does. And of course the media can't possibly think of a motivation for this terrorism. Tea Party? Of course. Tax day? Sure. Right wingers? Hell yeah. Hitler's birthday? Why not!!!
Speculate on somebody from Muslimastan, hell no - we can't possibly think of a motive for these two brothers to do a horrific act like this. To BD: Red Breasted Merganser on the flooded low land.
To Dr. Mercury: Get better, wishing you good health. I hope that you will continue to write (perhaps the old fashioned way) during your break and I hope it will be meaningful and enjoyable for you. More important, may your conciousness's journey be profound and beautiful. Sierra Club Authorizes “Civil Disobedience” Against Tar Sands
The Sierra Club has been turned from it's original mission into a leftist environazi organization ala Sea Shepard. Sad really. Gun Control Vote Exposes Clueless MSM How about clueless politicians? More than half have no idea about guns, rifles, shotguns, how they work, what they are used for - all they know. Re: Majority Think Wealth Should Be Distributed More Evenly
This is sad. It seems few are willing to look at both sides of an equation. If you want more evenly distributed wealth, you would need more evenly distributed intellect, work-ethic, ideas, appetite for risk, legal impediments (or lack of), and a host of other things. My only hope is that the respondents were thinking that they favored more people doing well - something I could ascribe to. I wish everybody was fabulously successful and wealthy to match but you don't get there by taking from successful and giving to unsuccessful - that is redistributing failure. Re clinging to guns.
if I were in one of those Massachusetts towns, hunkered down, "sheltering in place", I'd sure as shi'ite be looking for my gun, if the government let me have one. Sierra Club: Morris Dees and his gang will not call them a hate group, so I will. Mo and his gang, they are too.

Article on why capitalism is losing (short answer: the death not only of the father, but the idea of the father, and his replacement by the state) may be the most perceptive piece I have read in years. Thanks for posting.
