We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I always admired her. I honestly think she was the greatest leader of our time. I often wish I had 10% the courage she did.
When there was a photo of the leaders of the world, she was always the only woman, and she always looked like she belonged. So many women in these situations look tentative. Not Maggie. I often thought that she was the new Queen Elizabeth the First
RIP, Maggie. You made the world a better place. The Brits didn't deserve you, and I don't think modern Americans do, either.
How I long for more leaders like her, and a world that would encourage them.
