We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Obama's Major Gaffe

OMG. He referred to the decorative function of females. What's the big deal? Wasn't part of his own political appeal his role as a Calvin Klein underwear model?

Boo hoo. That 46 year-old lady Obama complimented is pretty hot for her age. I do not know what the pinata looks like. Is she a MILF too?

I'll be surprised if he's in any more trouble than Clinton was. Anything is forgivable by feminists if you're a Democrat. [I haven't, for instance, noticed any outrage against Sen Menendez. I remember Bob Packwood being hounded out of office for way less.]

It was how he prefaced his remarks that seems wrong to me

Really, you have to be careful to say something about ability, dedication and toughness before you say how good looking she is? Isn't that a bit condescending?

I don't get it - she's attractive certainly, but not "hot" or even close to being hot.

To tell the truth, female AG's aren't "hot", but several are attractive in that girl next door kind of imagery.

Given the recent Freudian slip by Michelle, and Obama's statement, we may be a Tiger Woods type fenderbender away from something really interesting.

In the victimology that rules in today's America, no opportunity to create an abuser and scapegoat can be allowed to go to waste. A few years ago a female coworker who had her assignments rearranged, with some of them turned over to me, went to the boss immediately because I had "made unwanted comments about her appearance". I had asked her one morning, when she was sick, if she felt well. Once word spread of her venomous assault on my career, she found herself isolated because nobody would talk to her. She was soon transferred a thousand miles away to a dead end position which was eliminated shortly after she assumed it. Sometimes people just choose the wrong target.
