Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Your new powerboat

Springtime in the northern hemisphere. Time to think about boats. Vicem (in Istanbul) builds nice powerboats.


Here's a new Vicem 82. Handsome and not ostentatious, looks sea-worthy, but I'm not sure I could trust myself to pull her up to the gas dock.

Birddog - you could consider having a US company or boat-building school which is training the next generation of shipwrights build you one to your specifications. (Of course I have such a School in mind... search "woooden boatbuilding school" and see what turns up).

Would that be a school for how to build wooden boats, or a wooden school for how to build boats?

They had this one at the Miami Boat Show - gorgeous boat. Very exquisite workmanship. In many areas the craftsmanship was stellar - you couldn't find a join or mismatched section of wood. Fit and finish were outstanding. It is quite the boat.

This one caught my eye - a 45' catamaran walk around center console sport fisher - Insetta 45. I really like it's Euro styling with that sweeping bow curve. I talked to the factory rep and almost got a ride on it, but I didn't have time.

Also a Buddy Davis design from Egg Harbor - - Predator 35 Express.
