We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
After careful consideration, I'd recommend "Spot". It has that rustic, earthy tang that people can identify with, plus it has the additional advantage of being true. Unlike "Fido", which seems hackneyed and trite by today's urbane standards, "Spot" has proven that it's withstood the test of time.
Wear those spots with honor, Spot, and you'll be spot on.
Large Munsterlanders are FINE dogs... My Nicky-Boy, Joy! was one of the best dogs in my memory - and he was a rescue, not raised from a Pup. I have a lot of dogs in my memory, as I was a trainer, and my father before me was a trainer (and a humane one, too, back in the days of 'ear pinch' and rock salting, he always said "You are helping your friend learn to hunt, you don't want to abuse him, and he might just teach you something new if you pay attention.").
ANYWAY, I hope your friend's Pup turns out to be a fine hunting companion, but there is no doubt in my mind at all that he will be a magnificent addition to the family. They are great family dogs!
