Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

We linked earlier. As Tom asked, is this guy too good to be true? I don't think so.


After all, he's not a professional politician. He's a real person who has done real, important, difficult things in real life.

I love Dr. Carson. He is quiet and thoughtful. He explains conservatism without scaring anyone. He comes across as reasonable and truly interested in helping those who may have come from less. He has done this with deeds and not words before he ever was on the political front. There are tv shows and interviews with him by the liberals, praising what he has done in the world of medicine, pointing to his background of poverty and growing up in a single parent household. How will the left be able to now demonize the same person they lifted up to our notice?

He is right. The Bible is our guide for a good government. God shows us how to be fair and equitable to all. If we base our policies off of what God has given us, we can only succeed.

I like and have liked him for awhile. But he is not our great black hope. The perfect candidate to navigate the hegemony that the press has become. True it will be harder to Palinize (caricature of stupidity with out self awareness) but they will attack.

We have to give up the idea of a super hero politician and put our energy in the movement. We need 30-40 Carson's and Cruz'. The media are the enemy and Carson is the best I heve seen from our side of going around them to make complicated points seem simple.

Democrat/MSM opposition research is in high gear on Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and now Dr. Ben Carson.

The Sarah Palin treatment will be applied to all.

But the more of these people we have talking about the conservative message, the harder it will be for the MSM to tear them all down.

Whereas before the Democrats liked to point to the Republicans as the party of old white guys, lately all I've been hearing about are the 'new' Republicans such as Alan West (black), Ted Cruz (hispanic), Marco Rubio (hispanic), Mia Love (black), and now Dr. Carson. These are the new voices of conservatism...and the group keeps growing! I think it will become harder and harder for the MSM to target them ALL.

I understand they found an old female colleague of Carson's and she claims he talked dirty and tried to date her. He even cracked a joke about a pubic hair on her coca-cola can. If he ever runs for office or an appointed position they will bring her up before congress and hundreds of TV cameras to tell her story. Her long and changing story that only a fool would believe but the MSM will sell it anyway...

We need a game-change. A new way of fighting back. First thing is to recognize a truth: it doesn't matter whether or not people believe the charges. That's why the usual arc of ever-more airtight denials and proofs of points goes nowhere and does no good (prime example, AGW).

What's actually happening is the MSM is making the point that nothing, nothing, nothing can stop whatever it wants to fill the comms channels with. What's actually happening is that we the people are being offerred some peace and quiet on the issue if only we will let it enter the bright upland field of truth, and pretend it's not what it is.

Admit that with so many voices saying up is down, that the question is 'controversial'. You can admit that, can't you? That it IS true that the question is (by then will have become) "controversial"?

Dr. Carson spoke at my medical school graduation a few years ago. I found him refreshing after 4 years of liberal group think. And he spoke about the same things then that he speaks about now. This is who he is and what he believes. It is completely genuine.
