We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Ha! Our family spent many years on Cape Cod second home socializing with the neighbors, taking ribbing that we would never be true Yankees, our people didn't arrive until eighteenth century. We heard lots of ethnic joshing, with the old time Yankees conceding that maybe the Irish, Italians, and Greeks had earned a sort of second tier eastern Massachusetts homeboy status, and pretty respectful of Jews, too.
But boy, they just could not stomach their Portuguese neighbors. Always struck me as funny, we fished with some Portuguese crews and knew quite a few lovely, warm, funny people, good food too, and no more troublemakers than ever other group as far as we could tell. One of those things where we agreed to disagree
Just more multi-culti-faux minority silliness. The Ports are European just like my Northern European ancestors and like the white Spanish descendents celebrated as hispanics. They were all colonizers and oppressors of the indigenous peoples just like the British and other European colonizers.
