Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Nixon was not a leftist, for all his other faults, and the Left's sine non qua is RAGE. The history of the Left is one of violence and thuggish behavior, a direct result of this bitterness and anger. It's one of the reasons the Left had SO much venom for, in particular, folks like Palin and Reagan, and even Bush Jr., who were/are seemingly innately happy and optimistic people. The desire for betterment of Man is NOT what drives the Left; it's the desire to control and for revenge (against what? Bad childhoods, who knows what else?) It's why Alinsky, a man who dedicated his work to Satan, is the author of the guidebook for the modern Left....Alinsky makes Machievelli look like a pussy cat.
I won't tar every "liberal" with that brush, as I have friends who I consider quite content, but are politically liberal. I find they often have no real notions of how bad socialism/collectivism is, but they truly are NOT mean-spirited people. The wolves, however, that are on that Far Left, however one wants to define that...a more bitter group of human beings is hard to find. I truly believe some just like the ability to steal....which this administration has done successfully to a degree much further than most (and I don't exonerate other administrations, Repub or Dem from doing a lot of stealing too, but not on this kind of scale)....but for so many of the members of the Admin, this is about the massive mental chips on their shoulders....they are all victims, don';t you know...so they don't see anything wrong with their hate and thuggish behavior. It's a group of sociopaths. Obama is the poster child for this group. A man who had a completely unstable childhood, raised by nuts and perverts, who hung around later with other enraged sickos (like Bill Ayres and Bernadine Dohrn), and Michelle, bitter inside as the day is long. Why others raised in unstable circumstances with worse things to happen don't end up embittered, I don't know. I'm no psychiatrist, but however it does happen, I think that's the root of what the Left is. A way to get revenge on the happy people! Bad link for Hong Kong apartments -- is this one it?:

Bob Woodward, Drama Queen http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/28/bob-woodward-emails-white-house-threat_n_2781052.html Quoting the Puffington Host to prove a political point is like quoting Greenpeace to prove an AGW point.
It just doesn't work that way. As for your knocking Mr. Woodward, here's another link for ya: Jim Geraghty: “The folks who write the hit pieces on Bob Woodward in the coming days will be outing themselves as the administration’s favorite puppets.” Thanks for your participation. QUOTE: Dr. Mercury: Quoting the Puffington Host to prove a political point is like quoting Greenpeace to prove an AGW point. The original post cited the Huffington Post. More important, they quoted the original emails. There was no threat, implied or otherwise. QUOTE: Scalia Blasts Racial Entitlements Voting an entitlement. Even funnier. Selective quoting works every time. As does ignoring the point.
Top form today! So, you want to eat from, or spit in, the melting pot strictly on a case-by-case basis, Zach?
Another liberal journalist steps forward telling the same story Woodward tells (via Ace).

The abuse from the WH will stop when the perpetrators of these attacks are shamed publicly and the press starts naming names. Until then, to the press "drama queens," I say, if you lie down with dogs, you'll get up with fleas. You'll get no sympathy from me even if what you write is true. You know what you need to do if you don't like being treated as Obama's bit#h. Re: Wal-mart's revenue down
It's possible Wal-mart customers are spending less overall because of the higher price of gasoline these days, but the rest of the explanations listed in the article don't make too much sense to me. Wal-mart's customers are not going to find lower prices on food at other stores, for instance, so I doubt they've abandoned Wal-mart to shop at the competition. And if Wal-mart's revenue is down because the sales of 50" and 70" large screen TVs just before the Superbowl were down, well, that's too darn bad. Their customers will just have to struggle through 2013 with the modest 32" HiDef TV that we pee-ons buy. As for the sudden increase in gas prices, which might be the real source of Wal-mart's plight, maybe that's due to increased activity by speculators in the oil market, maybe it's due to the refineries in the US switching over from winter to spring blends, but the explanation I prefer is that the major US refiners are busy exporting gas so they can take advantage of the currently high prices that are available on the international market, driven by high demand all across the globe. How to fix that? Drill, baby, drill! I can usually peg the cause of gasoline price rises, but this one had me confused. I started doing some research and found that there are three major refineries down at the moment -- the different companies don't bother to coordinate their scheduled downtime for essential maintenance -- two for normal essential maintenance that requires shutdown, and one for emergency work.
Re Ethanol
One wonders if the EPA is against terminating the program on the grounds that the agency would lose some of its power? An EPA prince may lose his fiefdom. Outside of farmers, the EPA seems to be the only entity still in favor of ethanol. You are correct but there are a few more groups that favor ethanol. There are billions and billions of dollars being shoveled out the door and the various groups on the other end don't want it to stop. Doesn't matter that ethanol uses more energy then it saves. Doesn't matter that ethanol increases the cost of gasoline and other energy. Doesn't matter that ethanol is harming the engines it is fueling. What matters is the federal government sends billions every year to special interest groups and they don't want to give it up.
The killer is that the whole reason for the ethanol --air quality --is not even true. Search the latest studies on which pushes more pollutants out the exhaust pipe.
Wait. Free bacon? I'm reconsidering my options here.
