We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
That is a great link, so many brochures and ads of cars I recognized so well. Thanks Bird Dog, that is the quality of shared fun that keeps me coming back to Maggies Farm.
Yep - this was my very first car - 1946 Chevy Fleetmaster Coupe. I bought it for $50 from a little old lady who only drove it from her home near Fort Sewall to Star of The Sea Church and back- a distance of two miles. She walked everywhere else.
My second car I kept right up to a week before we moved to South Carolina - a 1970 Plymouth GTX that I bought when I returned from my second tour in 'Nam. Black with 440 CUI, twin 950 cfm Holleys, Hearst shifter, four speed, limited slip differential, fat tires and heavy duty suspension. Only had 16,000 original miles on it. I miss that car.
While it wasn't their first car, they bought it just after I was born. The majestic 1958 Plymouth Belvedere. Mint Green with a white top. Mom drove it for 16 years. Push button transmission and a 440 Hemi I believe. Could fit a small family in the trunk. Thanks for the memories.
