We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
My Mother was born in 1915. Her interpretation (and alarm)regarding that phrase had to do with the implication that we the people were here to serve our government and not vice versa.....and boy, was she correct in that!
That's interesting as my parents and grandparents had exactly the same reaction and never trusted him. Of course, they were furious about his father's support of Hitler, so that wasn't in JFK's favor either.
And, yet again we must face the issue of criminal charges against those in the Wall Street community who knowingly committed fraud. Who knowingly committed acts of deception. Apparently they are a "protected group", above and outside of the law. For example, would you like to know why no one at Golman Sachs will be prosectued? Take a look at this:
JFK was a good speaker and looked good doing it. He could have been reading the NY City telephone book and half the population would have voted for him. As a president he was too young, too inexperienced and had no vision. His dad bought the presidency for him just as he bought his congressional election before that. His dad was a crook pure and simple and the three boys were only different from their dad in that they never had real jobs and when they stole they never got their own hands dirty. Of the three I disliked Bobby the least. Just think how much better the world would be today if it were Ted that had been shot instead of Bobby. I know Mary Jo Kopechne would have been better off.
