We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
explain... If (and apparently you think so) anything that anyone for any reason finds unpleasant is to be illegal, we should just outlaw everything as there's bound to be someone, somewhere, who at some point for some reason doesn't like it.
Public nudity being illegal is idiotic, and no different from the Taliban requiring burqahs. Only difference is the penalty (jail time or a fine vs. death).
Matter of degree you say? Not long ago women in many western countries were required by law to wear skirts down to the ankles and cover their heads and faces at all times.
I am sure I don't want to sit on the same chair that some unknown nude person just got up from (I don't know where that thing has been!)
But does one level of disapproval equal all levels of disapproval? Is exceeding the speed limit by 5 mph the same as exceeding it by 25 mph? Is exceeding by 25 mph the same as by 5 mph? Some people don't want to be exposed to nudism (or even more prurient displays). Are you saying they should be forced to? Do you feel the same way about religion? Is male circumcision equivalent to female genital mutilation? I wonder what you think about abortion? Is that a choice or is that murder?
