Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re: Gun crime in England
Those "new figures" are from very nearly 10 years ago -- January 2003 if the date prominently placed on the newspaper article they are quoting can be believed. One clue might be the "opposition" Tories complaining about it -- they've held the prime minster's office for a couple of years now, and are unlikely to be complaining about the actions of themselves in government. The English comparison is poor in other ways. If true we have 1.3 million gun related crimes. (and millions more people). still we have 0.00417 crimes per person, they have 0.000118 gun crimes per person. Thats about 35 times more here.
Yes, but one can do apples-to-oranges comparisons, or apples to apples.
All privately owned firearms in the UK require government permission, for which "good reason" must be given. And then a law passed in 1997 banned all private possession of handguns and semiautomatic rifles. Over the course of the next five years as people's ownership certificates expired all legally owned handguns and non single-shot rifles were confiscated. This in an island nation where all packages, people, and vehicles entering by air, sea, or chunnel are subject to search by customs. So it is a bit counter-intuitive that our rate of gun crime would soar by 35% in 2003 I suspect that the sudden new popularity of this ancient article in what seems to be America's favourite tabloid newspaper is that people are asking the question "what happens when you ban guns". So is it really that easy to destroy our constitution? Could one crazy person take away our 2nd amendment rights? Could another crazy person take away our 1st amendment rigfths or our 4th amendment rights, etc.? Is it that easy? If so, why? There is the gist of the matter. It is that easy as it regards the 2nd amendment because there is amassive opposition to our right to own guns some very open about their views and others more secretive and hidden. There is a massive movement right now that has been awakened to do exactly that, take away some of our essential constitutional rights. Watch for the predictable; the politicians who we know oppose guns and the weasel worded politicians who got elected by claiming to support the 2nd amendment. But don't ignore the many left wing groups with strong ties to socialist and communists all over the world. Groups whose dedication seems to be to their foriegn sponsers and are only here to spread that foriegn influence. Why would they be opposed to our ownership of weapons? To make our country safer? Obviously not since the evidence shows private ownership of guns reduces crime and deters mass shooters. So to what end do they seek an end to gun ownership in the U.S. ???
Yes, it really is -- will be-- that easy to destroy our constitution. Look how easy it was to destroy the Episcopal Church. Less than 10 years. Do not doubt yourself. The dirty girls of Seattle and others in their network are organized, trained, and dedicated to destroying our constitution. After all they have almost eradicated marriage as we know it. Which brings me to another item. How can women who spend 24/7 protesting their grievances against men--any white man--how can these women raise a "well adjusted" white male son? When I look at the feminist females I know. Women who have spent the last 25 years building their lives around the idea that all men and all male ways of thinking are evil--these women have sons who are nearly completely ****ed up ! Their daughters are the revers--absolute sociopaths without self restraint of any sort. But, I don't suppose the MSN will cover this aspect of the story.
Sheesh! Have you forgotten how long they have been working at taking the 10 Commandments out of the system of legal philosophy. They have almost completed this goal also.
Given the first two links, I thought this was Doc Mercury's posting.
Dems and guns: Talking the talk, not even thinking about walking the walk. "Jacobsen": As the post is by Joel Engel, I used quote marks. Interesting article. Later he refers to someone calling him a racist after a series of e-mails not racist in nature, that someone saying one could see he's black from his pic on his website. To which he says that someone could have seen Joel is black the same way. I looked, and found no pics of him on his website. So---I dunno. Our representatives have done everything in their power to suppress investigation of the governmental contrivance formulated to justify gun taking: Fast and Furious. Our borders are open, our cities are cesspools, our border states are working models for implementation of the Cloward-Piven or Strain theory, our treasonous msm refuses to properly inform us, our principal institutions have been undermined by the nonsense of multiculturalism, PC, diversity, and inclusion; our police cannot protect us. Now our representatives wish to hasten our deaths by taking away one of our few remaining strengths that scares the living hell out of them. I don't think so. If our government can pick and choose which laws it will enforce, I see no reason for us to do otherwise. At this time in our history we are governed by psychopaths who don't care one whit about any of us, but can produce that “heartfelt” teardrop at a moment's notice.
Re: Israel today and Czechoslovakia of 1938.
My old friend and mentor, Tommy Mandl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_Thomas_Mandl) of blessed memory, had often made the point that the Palestinians are the Sudeten Germans of the Near East, and that they are being used as a (willing) weapon against Israel in the same way. |
