We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The series at Ricochet by Ryan Anderson about marriage is excellent start here: http://ricochet.com/main-feed/Marriage-Matters) as it gathers in one place links for those who are still deluded enough to believe the sentimental arguments in favor of genderless marriage.
Destruction of the family has long been a goal of the left. It's one reason the Leninists favored communes and state nurseries. Genderless marriage is merely the final assault in a long battle to redefiine marriage out of existence.
I don't understand libertarians. The family is a bulwark against an overambitious state. If the family is too strong, you get clans preventing the establishment of any kind of functioning central government - like in Afghanistan. IF the family is too weak, as is the case here and in many western countries, your mayor can tell you what size soda you can buy. Yet libertarians have signed on to the deregulation of marriage as if it advanced individual freedom. Go figure.
