Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Gaza Ceasefire: For How Long?

A ceasefire is supposed to start tonight. There doesn't appear to be anything that will ensure a lasting peace. Whether and how long it lasts is really up to Hamas.


Hamas' celebration of today's terror bombing of a bus in Tel Aviv is not promising.

I believe it (supposedly) starts @ 2pm EDT, doesn't it?

That's correct, 2PM EDT is the same as 9PM Israel time.

I will believe it when I see it, and I expect it to pass in the blink of an eye.

Kill off half of Hamas and it will last a while longer. Then there're the Hezzies and PLO to deal with.

BTW,

Thank you for keeping the truths available for us to read. I'm forcing myself to watch CNN right now to see what they are reporting. At least "Coopsie" has taken off his helmet (that is hard to watch !). I'll be following what they report as to the "Billery/obama" response. Don't like what I'm hearing so far.

"ceasefire" - what that really means is that Israel will stop shooting while still being shot at. Only a fool thinks it means something else.

The cease fire will last until the next shipment of rockets arrives from Iran.

Political BS, of course, on all sides. But a game which, anymore, everyone has to play.

Gaza brings out my worst instincts. In that, in short order, it would be dealt with, for good.

I read that Israel thoroughly bombed the tunnels through which the missiles and other weapons were smuggled, both entrances, exits and in the middle, so it will take some time to replace them.

That's how long the cease fire will last.

I figure this was all to do with an Iran-Israel confrontation. Test out the missle defenses, knock out Hamas' supplies, and limit Hamas as a second front by putting up a diplomatic block (for what that would be worth). Israel had little to lose. We'll see if they needed it.
