We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Pro-Gaza demonstrators flee Gazan rocket

I get a chuckle out of this one.


Israel is a democracy, with rights of free speech, petition, and protest. The tiny number of far left Israelis are vocal and often ally with radical Arab-Israelis. In this video today, they held a protest in Jerusalem against Israel bombing Gaza. Then, they scurried away as soon as the air raid siren went off that a rocket may come in from Gaza.

these were a group of redical lefties and arabs inside of israel (jerusalem) who protested agains israel and showed support in gaza people..when the siren hitsuddenly nobody supports terror and starts running.

The demonstration in question took place yesterday at 14:00 Israel time at the entrance to the Hebrew University campus on Mount Scopus in Jerusalem. The Atendees are Arab students in the same university. At 14:14 the siren sounded.

I obtained a photo of the invitation distributed by the demonstration's organizers. I uploaded the photo and an English translation in my post yesterday:

Thank you, oh Wizard. The translation was pretty much what I expected. Timur knew how to deal with these people, I don't hold much hope that anyone in the west does. That is with the possible exception of in-theater veterans.
So why are the Israelis still using kid gloves with these maniacs? Because in every prior Israeli/Arab war the extended combat ammo bunker has been the USA. Previous American Presidents have opened the floodgates of re-supply to prevent the wholesale slaughter of every Jew in Israel, which is what the result of Israel losing a war would be.
This President will not do that. This is going to end badly.

I don't think the US supply train has much to do with it. Israel has the ability to take care of itself militarily. The problem is world opinion. Being the only non-Arab state in a sea of Arab states means that anything we do gets scrutinized by worldwide opinion. The casualties in Syria even today are way higher than those in Gaza, but Israel gets blamed for committing war crimes nonetheless, while you probably won't hear a word about Assad today. The result is that Israel is overly concerned with what the world will think, and therefore refrains from doing anything that might 'up the heat'.

The second reason, in my opinion, for not starting a land invasion of Gaza is the fact that only a longterm operation in Gaza will have any longlasting results. Such an operation would be very costly, especially in lives. Going into Gaza for a few days and then pulling out would have very little effect. Therefore, going into Gaza is not a decision to be taken lightly.
