We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
This is from before the snow began falling yesterday (ignore the House Finch on the upper right). I don't see these guys very often. Sorry for poor photo quality through the window.
Did you run these pictures before? Because I recall someone saying that these were goldfinches. My sister told me that she had goldfinches at her house in September and they were eating the seeds from corn flowers. The next day I observed the very same thing at my house. But they didn't look like these birds. Do goldfinches change colors with the season?
They look like Pine Siskins to me. Usually in flocks; forked tail which these appear to have, some yellow under wings and tail which I can't see but may be there.
Agree - we don't get them in our part of NC, but my folks in North GA do - funny though, they are not 'reliable' some years you see them, others you don't.
