Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

No, he is active duty. Only retired generals and admirals can sign a political statement.
Political support from the military is based in part on knowledge of what is needed and best for the safety of Americans. But I have long thought that the cultural element is strong. Servicemen and women know that liberals essentially dislike their culture and look down on it. They are regarded as less able and intelligent, even though the bottom 30% of the population cannot meet the qualifications to enlist.
While this is not universal among liberals - and it is certainly not universal among all groups in the Democratic coalition - it is darn close. If they were endorsing Obama, this would be all over the news. Since it is for Romney, the MSM is quiet.
This is nice. But I've never thought most General's to be much smarter than a competent Private. Exceptions by the dozens, of course, but never by the hundreds.
Note: General John Conway is the preceding Commandant of the Marine Corps who was Commandant he first two years of Obama's Administration.
