Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re: Decline and Fall of Western Culture
I saw this over at Clayton Cramer's blob (http://claytonecramer.blogspot.com/) where he quoted Tom Stoppard: “Skill without imagination is craftsmanship and gives us many useful objects such as wickerwork picnic baskets. Imagination without skill gives us modern art.” I think that pretty well sums it up - actually maybe minimizes it. Bruce Kesler: The Decline and Fall of Western Culture in One Photo
Yeah, no wonder that Van Gogh fellow could never sell his paintings. http://www.theartwolf.com/imagenestAW/van_gogh_bandaged.jpg Bruce Kesler: UK Death Panels: British Health Care Bonus Payments for Hospitals That Create “Pathway” to Death
"The LCP was developed during the late 1990s at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, in conjunction with the Marie Curie Palliative Care Institute. It was intended to provide the best quality of care possible for dying patients in the last hours and days of life, whether they were in hospital, at home, in a care home or in a hospice. It was widely seen as a way of transferring the model of “excellence” in the care provided in hospices to other healthcare settings such as hospitals and care homes." http://www.nhs.uk/news/2012/11November/Pages/What-is-the-Liverpool-Care-Pathway.aspx QUOTE: With every day that passes, the Obama administration’s dishonest effort to paint the attack as a spontaneous “protest” over a YouTube video becomes more ludicrous. If we remember correctly, the perpetrators were characterized as heavily-armed extremists who coopted the moment to seek revenge for the perceived insult to Mohammed. "If we remember correctly..." Zachass, the remainder of the sentence should be "...version 2.3.4 of the Obama administration/media lackey bullsh*t..." The full story has yet to come out as the stall is on, for almost two-months from 9/11 to November 6.
Zachass, since you are up early in time to spew Comments, you are likely nearer Obama campaign HQs than I. It shows in your repackaged troll talking points. CIA Timeline
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-11-02/cia-describes-effort-to-rescue-americans-in-libya-attack.html Zachass, as to be expected from troll-central, your link only tells part of the story and that of one of the agencies covering their a**, 6-weeks later. See, for example, http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2012/11/02/intel-officials-push-back-on-fox-story/#more-809829 for just some of what is missing from the accounting.
But, surely we'll know more after November 6, won't we.....except for you that is, who will still be spinning thin yarns of excuses. Now, go about your day's business. Dogs other than at 1600 Penn need picking up after. Bruce Kesler: See, for example, http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2012/11/02/intel-officials-push-back-on-fox-story/#more-809829 for just some of what is missing from the accounting.
Fox News reported the CIA was told to stand down. That's apparently not the case, which would seem to call into question the reliability of their sources; but there are certainly still a lot of unanswered questions. (Not sure why you are always angry, but to each their own.) Zach, I'm going to recommend, just as one treats an out-of-control child, that NO ONE at MF should respond to your postings.
Find another site to perpetuate your myths.

I don't know that I've ever agreed with Zach, but I would not ask him to go away. If we only listen to those we agree with, we will never understand other arguments (admittedly, this is less of a problem for conservatives since the left side of the argument is all over the place).
In the first place, there is likely a germ of truth to their argument. Speaking from my brief reading of Zach's posts, he seems intellectually honest. There are a lot of lefties you can't say that about. In the second place, listening to opposing views can help you craft better counter arguments. You can better see the strengths and weaknesses of all arguments. One of the reasons the Non-Fox media is so poor is they don't view things outside their experience. They're lefties and those who claim to be fair don't even know that their biased. I like congregating with like minded friends, but at the same time, I don't want to stay in an echo chamber.

I've on several occasions expressed my views and opinions of Zachriel's comments, world view, and lameness. I haven't changed my mind.
So, all in all, and though I don't agree with his exact points, I think mudbug's admonition is well considered given some of the bloodletting that has previously occurred at MF. No one has to read Zachriel, and for sure no one has to respond to him. It's tough doing that, as he does have the skill to piss off everyone with a thinking brain. But so does my wife.

Zachass, I am not always angry, I'm just disgusted with you endlessly with slight twists repeating the same talking points over and over and wasting my time and that of others. Zachass, remember that you are a guest and act like one, or go to someone else's blog who wants to waste more time with you. -- Mudbug below makes good points with which I agree, but you have continually exceeded and in effect abused the privilege of Commenting here. It is my right to start just Deleting you and I will if this continues. -- This is not your blog. If you want to endlessly run off at the mouth with your packaged talking points, get your own blog.

TY, Bruce. It's not that I object to Zachriel expressing his opinion...once. It's the on-going rant that I find objectional. MF starts looking like the LSM (same talking points at every turn repeated over and over and over and over again) and, frankly, that is NOT why I come to this site.
Fresh ideas from different areas of the country (world), great! Wonderful! Zach does not afford such riches.

Interesting, other than ourselves, the only opinions expressed on this blog are people who agree with the right wing viewpoint. Is that what you mean by "fresh ideas"?

Zachass, I warned you above. Take the warning seriously. Once you have made a comment, I will -- if I have time -- start deleting your ongoing repeats. The Comments do not exist for you to exploit or take up all the space. So, say it once and go on to somewhere else. You are warned. Abuse the Comment privilege here and see them disappear.

Not only crony capitalism, but lobbying. When the gummint can (and will) do most any thing, then it behooves most any interest to work at influencing it. Campaign contributions are or can morph into bribes.
