We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Found this comment. Read down to the part about Johnson's possible deal with the Jewish/American community; you might find a long established tradition in DC regarding Syria that we were not familiar with, it makes me ask the question why hasn't Israel gone into Syria in the past? Why doesn't the US help the rebels in a more visible way during this Syrian revolution?
Back in the '60s, when I was hitching coast to coast I ended up driving a VW van west across Nebraska- which is uphill. I made sure to get the van behind an 18-wheeler, and was able to keep the speed up.
o/t but i have to give Dai an answer about allegory-land: Naw, it wasn't a wander --your comment was about the cost of tribal loyalty, and i answered with the benefit, so that the ratio would have its proper two sides. Okay, done, if you respond, fine, but i'm already being rude o/t and have to be done.
