Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Licorice is disgusting. It would NOT allure me...
The article amused me as a welcome break from the usual stuff we women read endlessly about how to appeal to men...Because we all do, still, even when faithfully married. It's weird when people find these odd turn ons and offs, but licorice????? But it's true that women are not as entranced by flowers (unless grown and picked by the loved one) as the floral industry wants men to believe. Flowers are chiefly important as a social signalling device, as a way of competing with other women: when one woman in an office gets them on Valentine's Day, it makes the other women jealous (or cattily remark that her philandering lover is just feeling guilty). A long hike somewhere beautiful, or seeing some gorgeous animals, or an adventure (going to a new place or exploring a slightly dangerous part of town where one feels protected by the male) are far more likely to make her look at you with interest. A man who owns and regularly walks a large dog is always a "chick magnet". Duh. Women like men who can handle animals well (I can't imagine why...ahem), especially dogs and horses. If his dog behaves well, but loves him, she (unconsciously) thinks that he might be a good father. Also, dog owners, by definition, can handle mess, noise, occasional disasters, and are loyal. Beware the man who is too fussy about getting dirty or having responsibility for another living creature. Yes, she is making these calculations before flirting with the guy with the wolfhound at the park. If you want to appeal to a woman, be adventurous and brave in the outside world, and you will be her hero. But it doesn't mean to you have to make like Rambo. For example, if a bunch of people in an office are standing around making snarky remarks about the disabled kid assigned to help out at some horrible task that none of them can be bothered to do, most women will be attracted to the man who stops the discussion, who takes the side of the kid. Chivalry is always alluring. If someone is loudmouthed, bossy, rude, full of themself, roses and fancy gifts will only attract gold diggers. They will have no effect on average, kindly women who are attracted to courage, honor, and a BIT of the pirate . "U.S. Soldiers Urged Not to Shoot Taliban at Night so Locals Can Sleep" ...and I thought Viet Nam was bad. On second thought it was. This is way, way beyond bad. Heaven help us.
The poor little darlings at UW Madison were sweetly funny. "Well, sure, it would have been more fair to let him use a teleprompter. What's the use of making someone memorize a 90-minute debate?"
They must be real spectacles in their classes. Bird Dog: Does Archbishop Tutu Endorse Holocaust Conspiracies?
No. What an odd time/place to display himself. You'll not get three, you'll not get one, though glad to be proved wrong, Z. Have at it.
Though, I guess you are saying, Z., that associations carry no meaning or worth. Much like the 'O' and "Wright'. He seems a little off his game. Depressing week?
Just waiting for a new meme I suspect.

Does Archbishop Tutu sound like an anti-Semitic bigot?
QUOTE: He has minimized the suffering of those murdered in the Holocaust by asserting that “the gas chambers” made for “a neater death” than did Apartheid. In other words, the Palestinians, who in his view are the victims of “Israeli Apartheid,” have suffered more than the victims of the Nazi Holocaust. He has complained of “the Jewish Monopoly of the Holocaust,” and has demanded that its victims must “forgive the Nazis for the Holocaust,” while refusing to forgive the “Jewish people” for “persecute[ing] others.” Yes.Tutu has asserted that Zionism has “very many parallels with racism,” thus echoing the notorious and discredited “Zionism equals racism” resolution passed by the General Assembly of the United Nations and subsequently rescinded. He has accused the Jews of Israel of doing “things that even Apartheid South Africa had not done.” He has said that “the Jews thought they had a monopoly of God: Jesus was angry that they could shut out other human beings.” He has said that Jews have been “fighting against” and being “opposed to” his God. He has “compared the features of the ancient Holy Temple in Jerusalem to the features of the apartheid system in South Africa.” He has complained that “the Jewish people with their traditions, religion and long history of persecution sometimes appear to have caused a refugee problem among others.” He has implied that Israel might someday consider as an option “to perpetrate genocide and exterminate all Palestinians.” He has complained that Americans “are scared…to say wrong is wrong because the Jewish lobby is powerful—very powerful.” He has accused Jews—not Israelis—of exhibiting “an arrogance—the arrogance of power because Jews are a powerful lobby in this land and all kinds of people woo their support.” Has Archbishop Tutu disavowed the Holocaust denier? No. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Z-Team. Gringo: Does Archbishop Tutu sound like an anti-Semitic bigot?
Sorry, but "'... the gas chambers... ' made for '... a neater death... '" is not even a valid quote, much less a valid citation with context. Gringo: Has Archbishop Tutu disavowed the Holocaust denier?
Next thing you know, Tutu will be seen talking with white supremacists. http://tinyurl.com/Tutu-Botha Apology regarding TWEET http://www.freegaza.org/en/home/56-news/1367-apology-regarding-tweet Per Legal Insurrection, we Googled Desmond Tutu anti-semitism. The first link was to Wikipedia which cites the American Jewish Committee which calls the rumours of Tutu’s anti-semitism to be “”insidious”.
But the clincher is that #11 (now #8) on the search results was the very webpage on Legal Insurrection, a sure sign of the right-wing echo chamber. http://legalinsurrection.com/2012/10/desmond-tutu-and-the-jew-haters/ Peggy Noonan is a two-faced, back-stabbing, opportunist RINO. Her support of Obama won't soon be forgotten. Nor will her previous Romney bashing when he made comments that worried her because they weren't politically correct enough for her beltway friends. Now that Romney has exposed her golden boy as the empty chair he really is, she shifts and cautiously jumps on board with the winner.
Like Dylan said... "You just want to be on the side that's winning.
Archbishop Tutu is "presiding" over a massive genocide and racial war in his own country. He is either deaf, dumb and blind or a willing participant to this South African Holocaust. Perhaps he feels the need to divert attention from his self and his countries actions.
Desmond Tutu is a patron of the South African Holocaust and Genocide Foundation.
