We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Is this all simply about fear of Muslims, or do they really believe what they're saying? Regardless, their speech is offensive and should be banned. So should offensive Jihadist speech and the speech of all crazed Left-wing moonbats.
Freedom of speech is messy, inconvenient, and offensive. As soon as someone figures out a good way to preserve liberty without it, I'll be all ears.
It sure is easy to forget what it used to be like before we established this country, our Constitution, and the First Amendment. There was always someone with a good argument why one idea or another was too dangerous to be allowed any expression.
"Freedom of expression should be and must be guaranteed and protected, when they are used for common justice, common purpose."
"When some people use this freedom of expression to provoke or humiliate some others’ values and beliefs, then this cannot be protected in such a way."
Who gets to decide what's provoking and humiliating and what's sensible and true? The Secretary-General of the U.N.? The President of the U.S.? A majority of Congress? A majority of the citizens of the country? No one - absolutely no one and no body of people - can be trusted with this power.
The secretary-generals comment is not uncommon for a third world politician...and thats why there are endless parades of third world politicians trying to get political jobs at institutions created and funded by first world countries. The UN should be dropped before our bill of rights is dropped.
My conspiracy theory is that the made-up story of why our people in libya were killed, linked together with the obama regime's attempt to disembowel our first amendment rights by joining with the unholy un's mandate against insulting islam, is THE conspiracy of the month.
