We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
For the record, Worlds Finest Comic, certainly a gimmicky and poorly written title from yesteryear, has been re-vamped, simply as "Superman-Batman". The early issues were written by Jeff Loeb, and were SPECTACULAR.
Starting w/ the story arc "Public Enemies," Loeb hit it out of the park. I leafed through issue #3, and suddenly was itching for the rest. Many of those early story arcs are available as GN/TPB, and are definitely worth checking out.
Many years ago I was reassigned to Southern California and before I went I was discussing the smog with a co-worker who grew up in Southern California in the 30's. He said that the smog was bad in the 30's and his parents told him it had always been bad. He said it was because there was so much oil bubbling up from the ground all over Southern California and with the temperature inversions trapping it then it would become a visible smog. No doubt humans have contributed to the smog but the natural conditions created it.
