We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Thank you for the reminder. I spend too much of my life angry because a reasoned argument is neither refuted nor even engaged but simply not understood, and passed over in favor of an emotional or social consideration. I should no better, and admire those who can persuade on that level, so long as they do it fairly (for we must hold to our own standards, after all.)
Perhaps my frustration is greater because I believe that many of them would be easily capable of at least understanding the argument if they would but try. One gets cynical about the whole process of political, religious, and social debate and begins to despair of what is to come.

Yep. It is hard to convince the brain blind. Those who will not see.
