Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

WRT the Chevy Volt. Has anyone else noticed the large number of TV ads on now for the VOLT? They seem to be more of them than for the money making trucks GM makes. There are no ads for the broader sedan market that GM needs to survive.
What's the reason for this? GM knows who they owe
BTW, look for the Volt to go out of production mid-November. I foresee it. That letter to the future daughter-in-law is some heavy-duty beat-down.
"The intifada or ‘throwing off’ was the spontaneous Palestinians grassroots rebellion against Israel that began in the fall of 1987. " Somehow, I doubt that. Spontaneous is the word that makes me doubt. Some very funny stuff today.
Bird Dog: A letter to a future daughter-in-law QUOTE: He sees overweight women wearing unflattering clothes that display muffin tops and rolls of fat, who drool over his biceps while telling him that “looks aren’t important.” No beautiful women on campus? Seriously? QUOTE: My son looks around and he sees bitchy, arrogant, malicious women. He sees spoiled greedy women. He sees financially irresponsible women. He sees lazy undisciplined women. My Goodness! Her son must be the most embarrassed kid in the world, or the most messed up. The whole letter is a hoot! The Z-borg needs to get out more and circulate among actual human beings, because if he does he'll get to see a bunch of the stereotypes that mom cataloged in her rant. Muffin tops galore, natch. College girls gone wild on spring break, flashing their boobs. Sh$t, when I was in college, I spent my spring breaks writing term papers for my courses. Who had time to get drunk on cheap booze in The Big Easy, Florida, or Cancun?
If instead the Z-man insists on staying holed up in his mancave, he can turn on the boob tube and watch the reality shows. The ones starring the wives and ex-wives of professional athletes are highly recommended, because if he does he'll see all the Jerry Springer types that mom wrote about. Alternatively, he can just check out the on-line advice sites, like the ones linked by Instpundit, which appeal so much young chicks these days. Boy, are today's young gals totally screwed up, or what? It's incredible what some of those letter writers have done to make such a complete mess of their lives, yet somehow they've managed it. Problems you wouldn't believe. As for the mom's rant, has she got Sandra Fluke nailed, or what? And throw in the unmarried black women who are the moms of the 70% of all black children who are born out of wedlock. As the Z-meister says, damn, what a hoot---if it weren't so sad. ]b]Agent Cooper[/b]: The Z-borg needs to get out more and circulate among actual human beings
The writer is suggesting her son only sees "bitchy, arrogant, malicious women". Poor son. Blind to the beauty around him. No friends. Cruel, cruel women! The letter is so bad, it's funny. She was writing about women who are Libruls and Democrats you know, so you'll just have to take the lack of "balance" for what it is.
She's applying her contempt to everyone. She even "'drops' a few in strategic locations around a nearby college campus".
QUOTE: Half of you have been raised without your fathers ... Most of the rest of you were raised by fathers who knew damn well that if they displeased your mothers ... You were raised in a Disney Princess Culture ... There are all sorts of people on most any campus. If he only sees "bitchy, arrogant, malicious women" then he's blind. Couldn't imagine a bigger loser. Of course, it's not the son speaking. It's a juvenile tirade. And it's funny.

I am absolutely with Zachriel here. That woman's letter was moronic, and I commented there.
And I do get out into the world - pretty likely I can trump any card you'd care to play on that score - so don't pull that evasion with me. You can find examples of any type of person if you look hard enough, then convince yourself they are the most common by confirmation bias. Doesn't make it the least true. She's talking to people in her head. I am absolutely with Zachriel here. That woman's letter was moronic...
I couldn't agree more, AVI. I ran across it via another site. At first I thought perhaps it was an over the top parody. But then I realized she was dead serious... about publicly obsessing over her grown son's love life. I can't imagine how humiliated my sons would be if I wrote such a creepy jeremiad about the evil, slutty sluts lying in wait to do... ummm... what? to my adult son. Boundaries, people. At some point, your children grow up and you have to let them live their own lives and make their own decisions. A grown man's (or woman's) sex life is generally not something that requires or should invite public commentary from a parent. As Bugs Bunny used to say, "What a maroon". And all of you, first Z, then AVI, and C, apparently obsessed over what she wrote. When I see comments like hers, I almost always ignore them, but for some reason you folks thought it was important to form an opinion and to react to my (openly puckish) taunting of Z. All three of you would have made good subjects for Ivan Petrovich Pavlov. The fact is, what she wrote is unimportant. She is unimportant. Nobody else should care about what she wrote. Read it or not, like it or not, it doesn't matter one bit.

That was lame. One could say that about just about everything. It was linked here, therefore some reasonably intelligent person thought it worth consideration and possible comment.
If your opinion of what you wrote was that you were just havin' a little fun with the rubes, I suggest you don't actually understand your own motives very well. In fact, I think other motives bleed out into your comments fairly often, now that you've reminded me. Re: Destroying Poland's intellectual elite in order to make it easier to take over and rule a country.
Same thing has been going on here in our universities for the past 30 years. Our brightest and best young men--men with ethics, who lived by the moral code taught in Christian churches, men with the strongest analytical minds and the ability to defend a higher ideal--those white men have all but been destroyed by this nations assault on white males (1980- present). You will see the results this November. Blast from the past - My first ship was the Saratoga. I served onboad for her last 4 years and was transfered off just as she was being sent for decommissioning.
Many young college women today are putting their top priority into building a career. Their approach to relationships is not to have any kind of serious one, but to match what they seem to think is the male pattern of having recreational sex with multiple partners. They figure this will go on until they reach 30, the alarm buzzes on their biological clock and they will marry, settle down and have kids.
Guess what? If you spend 10 years doing all this, by the time you hit 30 the men your own age who are looking to get married will have already done so. The single men your own age will be those who are least interested getting married and most interested in continuing to engage in recreational sex with multiple partners. Good luck finding a marriage partner in that crowd. And you'll also find that those men are starting to be inclined towards having that recreational sex with women in their 20's, not women in their 30's. I read the Beast article about prostitution. Never bought or sold sex, so I will take Gilderman's word for it.
I tried to post my response on the Beast but it wouldn't take. I wonder if they have a common sense filter that keeps people like us from posting. Anyway, what I said was: Brittany is part of the1%. I say we occupy her hotel room and demand that she give some of her money to the poor street walkers who aren't as fortunate as her. I wonder how much she pays in taxes? |
