We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
With public-sector unions fighting tooth and nail to preserve their cushy benefits and expensive pension plans, old style Dems like FDR, Harry Truman and Fiorello LaGuardia—all of whom thought that public sector unionism was a terrible idea—are looking smarter and smarter all the time.
The truth of who killed Rachel Corrie is to be seen back in Seattle WA. She was trained up(indoctrinated) by the extreme liberal women who own/operate Evergreen College. She took classes in "community organizing", "collaborating" being an "agent of change". This community of extreme fem/nazis come from some of the wealthiest families in the world. The history of Evergreen college stems from the time when these families were trying to appease the African/American community of the late 60's . This college though it is now among the state institutions and as such gets more money per student than other school in the state.
Fiorello LaGuardia was a science-denying, racist, corporate tool, flyover country lying hater similar to the Taliban. In other words, he was a Republican. I'm surprised Professor Mead grouped him with the saintly, smart, compassionate, true American hero Democrats.
Re: Who wears the skirts in the Pickert household?
In Tonga and Samoa it's common for men to wear the lava lava, which resembles a skirt in appearance. And since Tongans and Samoans are typically huge, powerful people, as big as a house, it would be most foolish of anyone to ridicule them. The lava lava looks extremely stylish on tall or large people like the Polynesians. I regret to say that due to my European heritage I am not large enough or confident enough to wear one with panache. On me the lava lava looks more like a beach towel that I've wrapped around my waist.
