We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Disaster vid: Train wreck at Wenzhou


On July 11, 2011, two high-speed 'bullet' trains collided in Wenzhou, China, killing 40 people and injuring over 190.  It was the second-worst high-speed train wreck in history.


As a disaster documentary buff, I've occasionally dashed over to YouTube to see if some company like the people who produce the 'Seconds From Disaster' or 'Mayday' series have done a special on it.


But I've left disappointed.  No one's ever produced a comprehensive documentary covering the entire sad event.


Until now.

Stunning - beauty from tragedy - incredible imagery. There just aren't enough superlatives to describe it adequately. What a find.

A marvelous video, Doc, and thanks. Fun lead-in, too. I don't know what I was expecting, but it sure wasn't that. Also, A+ for the preview pic. Happily sipping on her bottle, there in her pretty pink princess dress, unaware that this incredible new thing called 'life' was about to end. Given the context, a truly evoking image.

Glad y'all enjoyed. I was just doing my usual every-few-months YouTube search for "wenzhou train crash" when up it popped. After wiping the tears from my eyes, I knew I had something to share. As for the title and lead-in, I just couldn't stop myself from calling it a "disaster vid", heh, so I had to treat the lead-in the same way. As for the unconventional preview pic (not using a frame from the video), Jimbo, you absolutely nailed it. It's one of those images that doesn't mean anything the first time through, then you see it in context, then it means a lot at the end. Pretty pink princess dress and all.
