My first thought would be that they are looking for excessive methane emitters.

Whatever you have to do, don't fart when they are around, or their Environmental Monitoring device will go off, and they guy standing next to you will get a ticket.

I don't know how you folks up there in Yankee-land can stand it. I'd have had to cut their tires, at a minimum. Just because I could.....

I thought there might be businesses at the beach catering to the fun seekers.

Such as concession stand for instance. And they could be writing the proprietor up for using styrofoam instead of paper cups.

He's probably checking on the plovers, Nauset Beach will probably be closed to ORV's for the entire summer because of them.
Cop's always get the best rides. Truro (pop. 3500) just got a brand new interceptor.
BTW, enjoy the beach, Wellfleet's going to $20/day parking next year.

This is why we make caltrops in our shop and carry them around with us always. Perfectly legal. Like keeping a saw under your front seat.

I thought that when the government "took over" GM, that the government would at least buy it's own damn product. Been bugging me for a while now.
It must go something like this:

'Lets see now, I've got to purchase 10,000 cars... and try and get a good deal on them, hmm. Now who do I know that makes cars... Hmm. I'm stumped. Oh, that's right- I do. '
Good for Ford- bad for us.

BD, not going to tell us which beach in the People's Republic of Massachusetts?

Definitely not Nantasket Beach in Hull, or Revere or Carson. Might be on the Cape, on the Cape Cod National Peoples Seashore. Oh, I'm a native by the way, get scalped regularly.

What is their mission? Well, believe it or not, some of what they do is reasonable. They monitor the marina's, especially the gas dock, to ensure that no gas is spilled into the waters.

But it is a political sinecure. Next to no work required, nice salary, benefits, and state pension after just twenty years. Nice (non) work if you can get it.
Mostly they tool around and order citizens about. If you give them any sh*t they can get on the horn to the State Police and have you arrested.

Some nice lampposts that I can see them decorating, after the revolution of course.

Ah, yes, the usual scapegoat - the off-road enthusiasts.
Yes, there are probably some bad apples but most ORV
folks are quite careful about what they do and where
they drive. Let's not look at the real culprits when it comes
to the demise of the plover population: sea gulls.

It still makes me scratch my head when I recall the hullabaloo
that was the sea gull culling on one of the Elizabeth Islands.
(can't remember which one now; it's been a while.) Whose brilliant idea was it to give these miserable nest-raiding rats protected status?
