The whole thing, as WUWT points out, only puts more of a spotlight on the fraud accusations against Mann and his unwillingness to engage his opponents in debate. On his own site, he deletes comments, not just those that are indecorous but those that disagree with him on the merits. Of course it's his site and he's entitled to censor as he wishes, but he's not entitled to the presumption of honesty or credibility that would come with showing more courage.

He may find the courtroom an unfamiliar and uncomfortable venue, where he doesn't get to set the terms of the discussion or silence his critics. I can't wait to see the products of e-mail discovery and the questions posited to Mann under oath. The whole business of the "trick" to "hide the decline" could use a more public airing.
