Has anyone commented how odd it is that our Commander In Chief is implying our soldiers carry Chinese weapons? I mean, I've heard of outsourcing, but still.

The AK-47 is the preferred weapon of our enemy and makes a distinctive sound when fired at us. It is also the preferred weapon of communist insurgents and terrorists around the world. It should in general only be in our soldiers' hands when taken from the cold dead bodies of our enemies.

Oh and by the way, the AK-47 is an assault rifle, a select fire weapon which requires a federal firearms license to own and no new ones have been permitted in civilian hands since 1986. Select-fire weapons (machine guns) are not in common use on our streets (despite Hollywood's depiction) except by law enforcement.

Uh...hopefully people are too busy accomplishing something new each day - having an "awe" moment -- to spend time worrying about such drivel. The one person I know that seriously worried about his state of "happiness" was the most miserable person on earth ALL THE TIME.

That study on women being too attractive to hire was terrible. They asked undergrads to judge what profession people would be good at based on nothing but a picture, then generalized that this meant that's what hiring managers would do. Studies like that drive me nuts.

The AK-47 was the invention of Comrade Kalashnikov, and first manufactured in the USSR/(CCCP). Most of the eastern Euro countries did so later. It was sold or given to "insurgents" world-wide; it was much less expensive to build, and built with looser tolerances for reliable usage, especially by those with minimal technical skills and/or minimal cleaning practices.

I've studied women most of my life. I never found one too attractive to hire. Never hired any, though. Dang.

If this comes to pass, one would think it would accelerate white flight from public schools.

An "Office for Black Students" will do nothing for Obummer. He had 95% of that vote in his pocket already.

I'll go one step further. The Feds will do NOTHING to improve the academic achievement of black kids, not unless they can convince them to stop listening to hip hop, stop watching VH1, and start adopting all those "white values" that make education the Job #1 of kids. Neither one is going to happen: the Feds aren't for one minute going to try to convince black kids to value education above everything else in their lives, and the kids aren't going to listen to the Feds if the message is a serious one about hard work and dedication. Oreos are not the most popular folks in black communities.

This initiative is just another way that the Feds get to throw vast amounts of money away into a cynically misconceived program that is designed to fail. Unless, however, you believe the entire point of it is to put more "walking around money" into the black community in return for votes. A true cynic about Obama would probably say it has nothing to do with education. It has everything to do with buying votes with other people's money.

∅bama is the product of elite private schools. ∅bama has sent his children to elite private schools instead of subjecting them to the public schools of Chicago and Washington D.C.

If ∅bama had any direct experience of public schools, I doubt he would have concocted this policy.
