We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"12 dead and 10 injured in a pickup truck crash in Texas". The NY City mayor calls for a pickup truck ban. Just kidding. No one cars how many people die from cars and trucks there is no political gain to be made. But let some nut kill someone with a gun and don't get between a politician and a microphone.
Whether they "will kill you" or not. Compact fluorescent bulbs are horrid. They give ugly glary light which will fade artworks over time, and when they break, it's "Katy bar the door." You have to turn off the air conditioning [are you kidding -- it's 95 degrees out there] and open all the windows and doors. You can't vacuum the mercury away and then use the vacuum for something else. Representative Ted Poe did a wonderful presentation in the House on just how difficult they make life, and I believe every word. No CFLs for me. I'm stockpiling until we can get That Person out of the White House and get back our benign, friendly incandescent bulbs on grocery shelves again. Until then, I'll use my friendly neighborhood smuggler.
