We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
This reminded me of taking Amtrack past the San Francisco bay around 2005. I saw a real estate sign right by the water advertising a lot for only $250,000, so I quickly wrote down the number and called when I got home.
The agent told me the parcel was located about 75 feet offshore and was always completely submerged. I asked what possible use it was, and he said maybe I could build a boat house. But there were no roads anywhere near. That was how crazy things got during the real estate bubble.
