We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
On the contrary, the new VAWA is a gift to education reform. Making it not just difficult but dangerous for men to attend the universities will be a boon for alternative ways of learning and earning credentials. There will be a great potential for humanity changing innovation as well.
Long ago, Oxbridge denied attendance to those of the wrong religious persuasion. So alternative academies were created that weren't tangled in the religious and Aristotelian doctrines of the "academy". Others who might have attended Oxbridge went into the trades. Not being hamstrung by the conventional wisdom, these "outcasts" transformed the world by bringing steam power to a reality. Forcing bright minds out of the academy can bring about transformative innovation.
