We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
John H. shows quantification of press bias: P'line. They do this to all Repubs, and they have done so for many years. And they always select one "good Repub", to seem fair. Today, liberal/Progressives give lip service to “supporting our troops,” but their actions make clear that military personnel are for them objects of cynical disdain, while they have made entertainers and athletes the most glamorous and astronomically-highly-paid group in history.
Hedonism, not patriotism, is the McLuhan TV ‘massage’ for liberal-Progressives." Read entire. It's an excellent thoughtful rant.
Hard to see how anyone could object to this creative way of preserving the land. The only possible one is jobs lost, perhaps. But how short-sighted most human animals are, whether it's burning forest in Latin AMerica, cutting down the cedars of Lebanon for Solomon's temple, over-growing and grazing in ancient Greece, cutting down the forests of India in our Middle Ages. Once it's gone, you can't get it back...
