Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Saturday, February 25. 2012InsaneDrudge headlines this morning: 5th day of Koran-burning protests... Andy McCarthy asks whether we have officially lost our minds. I haven't. My government has. Who is crazier: the ignorant, lunatic, hyper-reactive Muslems, or our pathetic Western governments? Gee whiz, I am so deeply sorry I hurt your sensitive feelings while sacrificing our lives while trying to rescue your freedom and lives. Krauthammer: U.S. apology for Koran burning ‘embarrassing,’ ‘groveling’:
Rarely, Charles? try "never."
These people make Islam look both stupid and bad. If they don't want to understand me, why should I bother trying to understand them? "Hearts and minds"? Are you kidding? Screw 'em. We gave them a chance, and that's all we can do. On this topic, I agree with Obama and the Russians and the Brits before: Afghanistan is a tar baby. If they aren't one kind of trouble, they're another: heroin, terrorism, tribal warfare, Taliban. Kipling knew this.

Yeah, their friggin' holy keran is so frigging' holy that they were using it to secret messages between on another. I think that that is called "defacing a book." What is really funny is that at least 75% of those outraged savage mooslims can't even read the friggin' thing.
More evidence the neocon model is a proven failure. Nations cannot be built by external forces.
Krauthammer’s point is pointless. By our Western ideals, the Mussulmens’ selective outrage is unfair. I prefer to live under our moral framework, and I think it is superior. But I am not an Afghani or a Muslim. What I think means nothing there. Why is the U.S. government and the righty commentariat so obsessed with the opinions of destitute people in South Asia? I don’t give a crap if they think I am weak and cowardly. My pride is not a function of their perception. Global politics appears to function with the emotional maturity found in junior high school. If they didn't come here to knock down the WTC and kill our people your view "might" have some validity. It is because they wish to go out in the world and kill every non-muslim that we must deal with the threat. They intend to get nukes or other WMDs and bring the fight to us in our country. What will you do then? Hiding under your bed is not a rational defense against nukes. What we are doing is not working but that means we need to do something more effective not give up. Islam has been openly at war with us since 1979. Denying this fact is not an intelligent response. We as a country of diverse people, probably won't get this until Iran successfully nukes a U.S. city. We will continue to keep our heads in the sand until we hear the loud noise or see the bright flash. I do honestly think we are fated to go through this simply because so many, like you, think we can ignore them and they will go away. They will not go away, they will come here bearing gifts.
Oh sure, I can see outrage, but for defacing a book? Hell, they smear our Holy Books in droppings, dunk them in urine, or even deface the Holy items in imaginative ideas (which, often is a form of lunacy), and call it art. We see some Islamic books, defaced by past readers, with extremist messages, and try to depose of them, and its a major atrocity.
All the while, Christians face beheading\hanging in Iran (sic) for just practicing their faith. Hell, over here, Muslims get a pass on contraceptives (kinda funny actually - birthing rates for Western countries are dropping like hot potatoes, while the Muslim countries are breeding like flies...), churches get bombed in Kenya, and other 'encounters'. The poor, poor Muslims get their nickers in a wad when their 'Holy Book' is even breathed on funny, but, won't even pay the same heed to other faiths, calling then Dhimmi. Or, even noting that the current text is WAY different than what was seen many, many years ago. Nice double-standard racket this struggle practices... dammit --lost another comment after an hour trying to write it --Maggies' is merciless --double hit shift and conttrol, or something, and boom the site is gone --oh well, i was trying to talk about what's going on in Russia with Putin's domestic political trouble twinned with his recent savage anti-Americanism and the wretched mess with the new US Ambassador and remark on the supply lines and the Saigon Embassy roof chopper photo of 1975 and --
This is one tar baby Barry did everything he could to create.
Remember how Pelosi and Zero told us 04 - 08, A-stan was the REAL war on terror? Remember how McChrystal, Barry's hand-picked man to run the surge, had to wait 9 months to even see the Messiah? Remember How Barry shorted the troop list McChrystal wanted by 50%? Remember how Zero announced we'd leave a year early? No, Barry's done everything he could to make this mess. PS The multi-cultis say all cultures are the same. So how come American Catholics are murdering Democrats in the streets? O/T but perhaps of some interest to readers of MF:
"Physics Today," a monthly magazine that is published by the prestigious American Institute of Physics, has a snarky report on the climate warming issue entitled, "Climate scientists not cowed by relentless climate change deniers." You can tell from the dismissiveness and condescension implied by the use of the word "deniers" instead of the more even-handed "skeptics" just how mean-spirited and biased the article turns out to be. In two pages of text the correspondent (one Toni Feder) leaves no doubt that all good scientists agree the science is settled; the scandal now known as Climategate is mentioned not once. Section headings like "denying the deniers" make sure every reader knows which side is guilty of creating a "hostile environment for climate scientists," pushing "climate myths," "attacking climate scientists," and---horrors!---writing letters to the editor of Physics Today to object to what some readers considered to be an unfair, one-sided portrayal of the global warming issue that appeared in an earlier article in the October 2011 issue of the same magazine. Not worth one more American soldier's life to drag them kicking and screaming from the 4th century into the 7th. You want to use religion to torture Afghan girls, boys and women? That's your deal, not mine. Knock yourself out.
We should overwatch the shit out of them with drones and when they start forming up terror groups and Al Qaeda 2.0 we turn their stone age scenery into cement dust. Period. |

Winter reappeared briefly, with 4 inches of snow falling Friday night/Saturday morning. I fired up the Official Weekend Pundit Snowblower to clear the driveway and got about 95% cleaned off. Then the shear pin on one side of the auger...
