Iranian Attack - I REALLY think that MOSSAD\IDF gets wind of a pending attack, they are gonna 'Rock the Casbah'... all those 'mysterious' explosions\assassinations\etc were (IMHO) mock-ups\rehearsals for the Big Show, if it ever comes...

Feds debunk their food pyramid: I think it's time to view government food pronouncements as food fads. I believe they even have a 1-800 number, just like the ones on TV.

It may be that we in the US consume too much salt. Or not, since the human system is pretty good at getting rid of excess. But what I have seen in the past few years is "people with hypertension often benefit from lowering salt intake, so it must be caused by consuming too much salt." Sort of like "most cancer patients admit to having drunk water, so we should ban water in the hope of lowering the incidence of cancer." I am aware of a study that seemed to actually show salt could bring on hypertension - in people of a particular, limited, ethnic nackground, not hamanity as a whole.

Yea, most of this health stuff is from correlation studies, which are always suspect until proven otherwise. And lately, more and more correlation studies are turning out to be based on data mining, which makes them little more than hypotheses.

Re: the mass hysteria, symptoms spread by social media thing... I suggest a high-visibility trial or two followed by a witch burning or four and the whole thing will stop post-haste. Either that or hide the rye bread.
