We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Bird Dog's, and, coincidentally, our long-lost cousin Gwynnie's, ancestral family church, Holy Cross, in Greenford Magna, Middlesex. Very pleased to hear from recent family visitors that the parish is still thriving, is blessed with a wonderful pastor, and is filled with the spirit of God. God bless them, with all best wishes for a holy and inspiring Advent this year to our friends across the big pond. The miracle of Advent is the re-birth of all of us, world-wide, in our hearts and souls, in Christ. What a joy that is, if we can keep it in us.
Warms the cockles of my heart. Lovely church. But...better to be kneeling inside one of these than waxing lyrical about them. Remember your fears for art, walled up in a mausoleum....oops....museum....God wants his people to worship him together in local churches such as these, every single Sunday...Not just on the net.
Here I am feeling guilty for avoiding the kirk today for fear of spreading germs (fighting off some vague flu-ey thing). Have you been amongst the company of the faithful lately, Bird Dog? This is your loving conscience speaking....
