Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Good news on the deep water drilling. The first deepwater rig has arrived off Havana to begin operations off Cuba.

Of course, Americans can't work those rigs, American companies can't supply those rigs, American oil service companies can't supply services to those rigs, American spill response can't respond to those rigs and unless they've fixed it in the last couple years, it is a violation of US export regulations to even give a Cuban a life vest.

So if the Republican party ever gets serious about going after Obama and the Leftists, I see the perfect ad.

Just list the items, such as the assault on Catholics, the betrayal of Israel, etc. then end with the Reagan quote across the screen, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party. It left me.”

Socialism fails because socialism is theft. As Maggie
Thatcher pointed out, you eventually run out of other people's money.

In the USSR nobody wanted to work because hard work didn't improve your standard of living. The joke was, we pretend to work and they pretend to pay us.
