We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Mystic Crucifixion, below, (c. 1500), is among Botticelli's latest paintings. The picture is, sadly, in very poor condition, but can be seen at the Fogg Museum in Cambridge. Worth a trip. Note c.1500 Florence in the background, with the walls of the city - it has not changed much. I'd enlarge the picture if I could.
What a contrast with the popular and charming Primavera and Venus and Mars. With this amazing, pseudo-Medieval and almost Expressionistic picture, we will leave Botticelli for a while so as not to test the patience of our readers.
