Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

You had me going on the High Speed Bus bit... truth is I wouldn't put it past this vacuous bunch of 'tards to offer such a plan. Score another great satire for the Onion.
...fun with fighters
Body howdy - ain't that the truth. I really enjoyed the comment about flying a brick with enough thrust. One of my high school buddies flew F-4s in the later stages of Vietnam and that was his exact comment. How To Carry a Concealed Gun in a Dress The fire arms instructor my daughters went to uses the same technique and they follow that advice religiously. They are very good at getting the gun out too. No custom holster though - plain simple small of the back holsters for their hammerless .38s. --the F4 always reminds me of the nic my dad's gen had for the the similar-concept B-26, built in Baltimore: "The Baltimore Whore" --because of 'no visible means of support'.
Yeah - the "Widowmaker". Interesting factoid about the B-26 - it's original final approach closing speed was 150 mph - faster than any bomber in the fleet at that time.
One of my Mom's brothers was a top turret gunner on a B-26. The other was a Marine Corps B-25 tail gunner. Both served in the Pacific. --B25 gunner --if in Gen. Kenney's command --had about all the guns the B25 would hold --field mods for low-level air to sea gunnery included up to eight .50s in the nose (OUCH!), and on some they just said to hell with it and rigged a 75 mm cannon.
All this controversy about the pissing Marines will go away if they just apply for an NEA grant and call it art.
Well, that's true, but it would have to have a title - something Avant-garde but recognizable. And I'm all out of ideas.

This is a one-word comment, which requires a buffer-sentence to elude the MF Spam Prevention monster:
Nice! Seems ridiculous to me: the liberals want to take control (take away individual choice) in most areas of employment and personal choice. Yet, it is that very loss of motivation (reward) that has led to the failure of the vast majority of the African/American community. Yes, there are many who have jobs, go to school, etc. But, for the vast majority that was not the case for many, many years. In fact, it was not the case until some of them had MOTIVATION. That is to say until some of them saw OPPORTUNITY and had the WILL to reach out for REWARD. What I am seeing and trying to state clearly is this: it is HOPE and the ability to see a great improvement in one's quality of life that leads the individual to work overtime at whatever effort they believe will provide the reward. When the liberals and their unions take away that freedom of individual reward they remove MOTIVE and CREATIVITY. It is a conundrum that liberals find themselves involved in and yet their flawed understanding of systems thinking leaves them unable to clearly identify with flawed reasoning of their own proposed solutions!
Yup--uh huh! Yup that fast bus solution is what the liberals did in Seattle. That gang of hoodlums, who on three occasions stole the money that the taxpayers had given through the electoral process to install high speed rail. The Democrats stole that money and used it to make the unions happy. High speed buses involve years of highway expansion---many, many more jobs that installing high speed rail. End result is an improvement over a flawed transportation system (bus). Does not put us on a level playing field with the Japanese and Europeans. I will grand BD and the Barrister this--the proposed high speed rail was a flawed design. It should have been sent back to the designer's desk--not to the s---can and certainly not turned into "high speed buses". What kind of oxymoron is that?
Yes, the carry in a dress technique is very good. Not only will she have the means to handle anything that comes at her, she'll also be far less likely to go commando.
