Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

My question is what will the Marines do about the sergeant who lied about Pantano that caused all his trouble? Presumably he's no longer in the Marines (to my mind he is no longer a Marine), but can they retroactively change his exit status? If so, they should.

re the Christmas tree.

Amen to that BD.

I dispose of our tree by burning it.

The first time I burned one, it had sat outside for a month and had time to dry out. Anyway, just to see if they were as flammable as rumor had it, I tried to light it on fire by simply holding a match to the needles.

HOLY CRAP! I had a raging inferno in less than a minute. Just from holding a match to it!

I put my tree outside in its stand for the remainder of the winter, near one of my bird-feeders. They enjoy it as cover.
